Preston, UK - Incorez has developed an oxazolidine curing agent for use in one-component polyurethane coatings, adhesives, sealants and elastomers, the custom chemistry company said in its October newsletter.
Incozol EH is a bis-oxazolidine curing agent that accelerates the cure of the prepolymer when used in conjunction with a low NCO prepolymer. Incorez said this occurs through a "moisture-triggered mechanism" which gives crosslinking benefits to the one-component urethane.
Incorez noted Incozol can be stored at sub-zero temperatures (down to -15°C) without signs of crystallisation. As the product uses an aldehyde leaving group (2-ethyl hexanal), it has a less pungent odour than bis-oxazolidines based on isobutyraldehyde, the company said.
Incozol has "excellent stability" in aliphatic and aromatic one-component urethanes, the Preston, UK-headquartered company said. Typical applications of the product include flooring and balcony systems, roof coatings and sealants.
