South Bend, Indiana -- Speciality adhesives manufacturer Royal Adhesives and Sealants llc is planning an investment of $4.3 million to add an 8300-sq.ft (770-sq.m) production plant and 22 500-sq.ft of warehouse space to its site at South Bend.
As part of the expansion, the US company will add 28 jobs to its current roster of 116, and buy nearly $3.2-million worth of equipment, including mixers, raw material storage tanks, pilot mixers and testing equipment, according to a press release from the city of South Bend.
The city said Royal Adhesives and Sealants is seeking two tax abatements, which have been recommended by South Bend's redevelopment commission and will go before the council for final approval.
Privately held Royal Adhesives & Sealants has a range which includes high-performance products for aerospace and defence, assembly, automotive and recreational vehicles, electrical/electronic, filter,
marine, and general industrial uses.
It specialises in urethane and epoxy solvent-based and water-based adhesives, sealants, and potting compounds supplying adhesives for foam and furniture fabricators, amongst other uses.
The company's most recent expansions have been by acquisition: it bought sealant and coatings manufacturer J&R Industries of Wilmington, California, in early 2005 and acquired the Belleville, New Jersey-based Hardman business -- supplying urethane and epoxy materials for adhesives and sealants -- from Elementis plc later that year.
