By Liz White, UT staffVancouver, British Columbia-American Insulock Inc. announced 26 Jan that it has successfully tested its machine for moulding six polyurethane blocks at once and this machine is now up and running at its plant in Mesa, Arizona. Several local builders have assessed the blocks "with great enthusiasm," according to American Insulock and some of these builders are now negotiating contracts which include the use of Insulock Blocks.Insulock's core business is making and distributing insulating concrete forms (known as Insulock Blocks), as well as the equipment used to manufacture these blocks. Insulock Blocks are made of polyurethane rather than polystyrene-the material used by virtually every other manufacturer of insulating concrete formsm according to the manufacturer. Insulock said its polyurethane blocks are "much stronger than polystyrene blocks and can be used to construct soundwalls and buildings that are highly effective at absorbing sound and that have an R-30 or R-38 heat insulating value."
