Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania - US company InventHelp has developed a Portable Gas Detector, which it says is easy to use to identify potential gas leaks.
The Portable Gas Detector, made of urethane rubber, can detect propane, butane, acetylene and methane (natural gas) leaks. It emits an audible alarm and sets off an LED indicator when the presence of gas is detected at levels higher than 1200 ppm (parts per million).
The device can detect gas at a quarter of the gas explosion risk. The laboratory-tested, portable detector can be used to check gas leaks in pipes, fittings, valves, gas storage tanks, home appliance tanks and hot water heaters.
InventHelp says the urethane elastomer-based detector is small enough to fit in a pocket.
