Kuerten, Germany - iSL Chemie, a manufacturer of colouring pastes and special lacquers for the plastics and polyurethanes industry, gained a new quality management system earlier this year - the crucial one for the automotive industry, ISO TS 16949:2002.
The Kuerten-based company has had the DIN EN ISO 9001:2000 quality management standard for ten years and in the past year also acquired environmental certification to DIN EN ISO 14001:2004.
"With our recent certifying we raise this consistently practiced quality strategy formally to a high standard," said Klaus Semmler, iSL Chemie managing director, in a company statement.
"We are already proud to be able to prove to such a comprehensive management system. Thus we see our position further strengthened as product and technology leaders."
Gaining TS 16949 is part of a strategic total concept, in that iSL Chemie would like to enhance its cooperation with the automotive industry further, the statement continued.
New developments, particularly in water-based special lacquers for automotive interiors, have been developed and have gained considerable successes in the market, according to iSL. They will continue to advance in the coming years, the company predicts.
For iSL, TS 16949 offers not only proof of its professionalism, but "an additional foundation-stone for the continuous and lasting optimisation of the work of the enterprise," Semmler added.
iSL Chemie, part of Swiss investment group Berlac, had a turnover last year of Euro 30 million and employs about 140 workers.
