Alexandria, Virginia -- Leaders of the International Sleep Products Association (ISPA), representing mattress manufacturers and their suppliers, met with mattress retail representatives on 7 Feb 2008 in Naples, Florida, to explore opportunities in expanding the market for mattress sales.
The meeting explored initiatives to collaborate more fully and effectively in order to address opportunities, benefits and threats facing the mattress industry.
"We can accomplish far more together than we can ever hope to achieve as individual companies or even individual industry sectors," said Dick Doyle, ISPA president and ceo, in a 13 Feb statement.
"We plan to formulate recommendations for the ISPA board's consideration in March that will greatly benefit the entire mattress industry," he added.
The Summit included an overview of ISPA's programmes and services, including Better Sleep Council and Government Relations Committee activities as well as a discussion on the formation of a national initiative on mattress industry sustainability, focusing on reducing the environmental impact of used mattresses. Health issues related to the sale of refurbished mattresses were also discussed.
