Lonate Ceppino, Italy -- Italian polyurethane colourant and additive maker Repi SpA has opened a manufacturing plant in Dallas, North Carolina.

The 43,000-sq-ft (3995-sq.m) plant has almost 7 million lbs (3175 tonnes) of annual capacity for colour and black concentrates, officials said in a 3 Aug news release. The firm - based in Lonate Ceppino, Italy - had operated a lab and small blending unit in Charlotte, North Carolina, since 2004. Repi has sold its products in North America since 1993 through a partnership with distribution from PAT Products of Bangor, Maine.

The firm sells into numerous markets including footwear, rigid and flexible foam, coatings, sprays and composites.

North America represents about 15 percent of Repi's sales total. The firm's sales in the region are growing at a rate of 12 percent per year, officials said.

Repi operates in North America as Repi llc. The firm also operates a plant in Lonate Ceppino, making liquid colourants and additives as well as concentrates.
