Tokyo — Polyurethane production in Japan from January to October 2017 was 163kT, up 12.1% on the 2016 period, according to figures from Japan’s Ministry of International Trade and Industry.
Japan produced 11.5 kT flexible foam in October 2017, compared with 10 kT in October 2016. Japan produced 6.8 kT of rigid foam in October 2017 compared with 5.9 kT in the same month in 2016.
This is the 24th straight month that production has increased in the country, according MITI. Growth is accelerating from 10.1 % in June, reaching 12.1% in October compared with the same months a year earlier.
There is a two-month gap between the end of the reporting period and the information being published by MITI.
