Tokyo — Polyurethane production in Japan from January to November 2017 was 182kT, up 12.2% on the 2016 period and more than the total produced in 2016, according to figures from Japan’s Ministry of International Trade and Industry.
Japan produced 11.7 kT flexible foam in November 2017, compared with 11.1 kT in October 2016. Japan produced 7 kT of rigid foam in October 2017 compared with 6 kT in the same month in 2016.
This is the 25th straight month that production has increased in the country, according MITI. Growth is decelerating from 12.1 % in October, to 9.4% in November compared with the same months a year earlier.
There is a two-month gap between the end of the reporting period and the information being published by MITI.
