Tokyo — Polyurethane production in Japan fell by 5% in February 2019, compared with a fall of 2.74% in January 2019. This was the third consecutive monthly fall in production.
The figures come from Japan’s Ministry of International Trade and Industry.
In total, Japan produced 16.382 kT of polyurethane in February 2019 This compares with 17 kT in February 2018. The fall in production was 893 tonne.
The country produced 10.735 kT of flexible foam in February 2018, down 165 tonne on February 2018. The nation produced 5.647 kT of rigid foam in February 2019. This compares with 5.988 kT in the same month in 2018.
Overall, Japan produced 16.382 kT polyurethane between January and February 2019, compared with 16.245 kT in the same period in 2018. This is a decline of 5.2% .
