Tokyo — Polyurethane production in Japan rose by 0.8% in May 2019, compared with a rise of 1.4% in April 2019. This was the second month of production growth since November 2018. The figures come from Japan’s Ministry of International Trade and Industry.
In total, Japan produced 16.3 kT of polyurethane in May 2019. This compares with 16.15 kT in May 2018. The rise in production was 136 tonne.
The country produced 10.5 kT of flexible foam in May 2019, up 5 kT on May 2018. In addition, it produced 5.8 kT of rigid foam in May 2019. This compares with 6.1 kT in the same month in 2018.
Overall, Japan produced 82.5 kT polyurethane between January and May 2019, compared with 84.7 kT in the same period in 2018. This is a hike of 0.8%.
