Tokyo — Polyurethane production in Japan in March 2018 was 8.7% higher than in March 2017, according to figures from Japan’s Ministry of International Trade and Industry.
In total, Japan produced 18.1kT of polyurethane in March 2018. This compares with 16.7kT in March 2017.
The country produced 12 kT of flexible foam in March 2018, the same level as in March 2017. Japan produced 6.1 kT of rigid foam in March 2018 compared with 5 kT in the same month in 2017.
This is the 29th straight month that production has increased in the country, according MITI. But, it is the first time since June 2017, that month-on-month growth has been below 10%.
There is a two-month gap between the end of the reporting period and the information being published by MITI.
