Tokyo — Polyurethane production in Japan fell by 4.6% in August 2019, compared with the same month in 2018. The figures come from Japan’s Ministry of International Trade and Industry. It takes two months to collect and collate the information.
In total, Japan produced 14.6 kT of polyurethane in August 2019, compared with 15.29 kT in August 2018. The fall in production was 704 tonne.
The country produced 9.4 kT of flexible foam in August 2019, down 6 kT on August 2018. The nation produced 5.2 kT of rigid foam in August 2019, and 5.8 kT in the same month in 2018.
Overall, Japan produced 132.3 kT polyurethane between January and August 2019, compared with 134.6 kT in the same period in 2018. This is a decline of 4.6%.
