Tokyo – Japan's flexible and rigid polyurethane industry produced slightly more material in 2021 than 2020. This was driven by an increase in rigid foam.
Over the course of 2021, rigid foam production was up by 6.6% to 65.6 kT. This equates to an extra 4071 tonnes of production.
However, flexible foam production was down 1% to 112.4kT. This means the overall amount of flexible and rigid foam produced was 178.1 kT in 2021, up by 1.7% or 2.9 kT on 2020.
