Dhaka, Bangladesh – China’s Join Win is investing $10.7m in a factory to manufacture shoe components in Bangladesh. It will create 900 jobs, and be located in the BEPZA economic zone in Chattogram, about 150 miles south-east of Dhaka.
The factory is expected to make 7 million pairs of shoe parts every year. These will include polyurethane insoles, midsoles and outsoles, TPU outsoles, open cell PU insoles, and rubber outsoles. Customers include international shoe brands, such as Nike, Adidas, Puma and Caterpillar.
The company has been operating in the footwear sector for 30 years, and has six factories in different countries.
