Cwmbran, Wales -- UK company Just Rollers plc, which specialises in elastomer-covered rollers for printing and other sectors, has been given the Queen's Award for Enterprise for International Trade in 2008.
The Cwmbran-based firm, with 73 staff and a turnover of £5.6 million ($8.2 million) claims to have become a world leader in the manufacture of elastomer compounds and polyurethane- and rubber-covered rollers, with exports to more than 50 countries.
Over half of its current production is now exported with sales to Russia, France, Germany, Netherlands and China accounting for over 30 percent of sales, the company said, in a news release on the award.
"Our strategy to grow business in international markets is based on innovation and partnership. We have all played an important role in committing to the skill, perseverance and tenacity required to develop and deliver our highly diverse and bespoke products," said Dr Geoff Davis, managing director (pictured).
Just Rollers has shown both substantial growth in overseas earnings and commercial success, with export sales trebling over the last seven years, as recognised by the Queen's Award. It has increased its exports by 56 percent since 2006, through taking on agents and attending trade shows. The company said this resulted in over £1-million in additional exports during 2008.
