Aksip, Illinois.-Kastalon Inc., which Robert DeMent started in 1963 in borrowed space the size of a one-car garage, mixing material in coffee cans, celebrated 50 years of operation March 13.
The manufacturer of polyurethane components today conducts business from a 50,000-sq.-ft. factory with state-of-the-art mixing and molding equipment, Kastalon said. The Chicago area business is owned by Robert DeMent's sons, Bruce-who is president-and Mike DeMent.
The DeMent brothers said the business has succeeded because of the creativity, energy and imagination of its employees. The firm designs, engineers and makes polyurethane components for a very diverse number of industry, such as steel and metals manufacturing, heavy equipment, military, aerospace, materials handling, industrial machinery, food, mining, appliances and building materials.
