Istanbul – Turkish PU producer Kimpur has added three new products to its environmentally friendly product range, using 20% bio-based raw materials in sandwich panel systems, and 30% bio-based raw materials in both refrigerator systems and cold room systems.
"We have concluded sales agreements worth TRY 27m [€1.3m] for 2023 for our new bio-based polyol-used products. With our vision of developing new products that will benefit nature, the newly-added bio-based polyols will contribute to our high performance by increasing our competitive edge in global markets, as well as reducing the carbon footprint," said a statement from Yener Rakıcıoğlu.
"We are aware that the resources in nature are exhaustible, and therefore we continue our studies to implement more sustainable solutions in our product life cycle," Rakıcıoğlu said.
The Turkish manufacturer is currently building a new production facility in the Düzce organized industrial zone, in north-western Türkiye. Under the plan, the factory will be enabled to make about 65kt of various products per year. Kimpur’s senior management has said the investment is Düzce is expected to be completed in the beginning of 2023. An estimate released last year suggested the project’s value will be about TRY 250m.
In the past three years, Kimpur expanded its production capacity by 98% from 65kt to 129kt, as indicated by figures from the business.
At the same time, the group is intensifying its efforts to develop a new range of environmentally-friendly products. In late 2022, Kimpur announced it managed to "obtain roughly 20% of the polyester polyol used in the production of slippers from PET waste and roughly 17% from bio-based raw materials,” according to the manufacturer.
The Istanbul-based PU specialist supplies its products to a wide range of industries. Kimpur’s portfolio comprised products for the footwear industry, flexible foams, and rigid foams, among others, according to data released by the company.
Since 2022, Kimpur has been listed on the Borsa Istanbul stock exchange.
