New Delhi – King Koil India has invested in a second commercial-scale PU foam manufacturing facility at its site in Sonipat, in the north of India. “The new Sonipat plant has installed capacity to produce 1000 tons/month, of which 600 tons is available as commercial foam, and the remainder is for captive consumption,” said Archit Gupta, the company’s managing director. The commercial foam market in India is dominated by furniture, which is experiencing double-digit growth year-on-year.
The company now has two PU foam plants, with the other located in Greater Noida in Uttar Pradesh. The new Sonipat plant caters to the major commercial foam markets in Delhi, Haryana and Punjab. In all, the company now has installed foam capacity of more than 15,000 tons/year.
King Koil has four factories producing mattresses under licence across India. As well as the facility in Sonipat, there are plants in Bhiwandi, Maharashtra in the west of the country, Bengaluru, Karnataka in the south, and to the east, a fourth plant in Kolkata, West Bengal. Each can make 1000 mattresses/day.
Gupta said the company also hopes to open a new foam manufacturing facility in south India within the next three years. “The plan is to put up a plant in Bengaluru for producing PU foam in addition to the existing mattress plant,” he said.
