Parsdorf, Germany – KraussMaffei has expanded its range of HPP axial piston metering pumps for polyurethane systems. Two new nominal sizes are being added.
Previously, the pumps were available with nominal sizes of 3–28cm2/rev, corresponding to a flow rate of up to 40L/min. This was insufficient for large-volume applications, such as building panels, refrigerator insulation and district heating pipes.
Flow rates of 80 and 155L/min at 1450rpm are now available. The company said this means the entire range of polyurethane requirements can now be covered.
The two pumps in the range, HPP and HPP2, have similar volumetric efficiency. The wide compatibility of the HPP model enables users to replace obsolete units from other suppliers. It is available with either shaft coupling or magnetic coupling.
The new HPP2 pump, meanwhile, has a wear-free magnetic coupling as standard, enabling a closed housing and thus removing the need for seals that wear. The spindle has been removed from the pump chamber, with the cylinder inclination now changed via the control disk. This is helpful for isocyanates, where water absorption can lead to crystal formation, clogging the thread and making it difficult to move. Placing the thread outside the pump chamber means the handwheel can be moved easily in the long term.
The bearing spacing has also been increased. This gives a stiffer bearing. Temperature sensors and bearing damage monitoring are also available.
“Our products are designed for precision and durability,” said sales director Jens Kompe. “We also offer the ‘turn old into new’ repair concept. Older pumps can even be upgraded to the latest standard by installing higher-quality components and then also receive a test certificate.”
