Munich, Germany -- KraussMaffei Group said 17 May that it will put all its units in China into a single subsidiary, which will market the products of all three brands - KraussMaffei, KraussMaffei Berstorff and Netstal.
The new unit -- Shanghai KraussMaffei Machinery Co. Ltd, will merge two existing subsidiaries in Shanghai, and will start operating 1 July 2011. With demand growing in the region, KraussMaffei said it will also be considering the possibility of future expansion of its Haiyan production plant.
"We're building a solid position in the Chinese market. In recent years, we've earned a strong reputation for special solutions. By bundling the strengths and expertise of KraussMaffei and Netstal in an operating subsidiary we are reinforcing our position in this growth market," said Dr Dietmar Straub, ceo of KraussMaffei AG, speaking during the Chinaplas event in Guangzhou.
Harald Schweitzer, who joined KraussMaffei in 2008 as head of the Chinese subsidiary and played a leading role in setting up the plant in Haiyanm, will be managing director of the new subsidiary in China.
"This new post is a great challenge. By joining up the know-how of our employees and bundling our products and services, we can significantly strengthen our market presence, make a strong contribution to building up the business, and generate more growth," said Schweitzer, in the company's announcement.
In China's polyurethanes sector, KraussMaffei said there is strong demand for its tooling systems for foam applications, where the group supports customers through the whole process -- from product design to prototyping and supplying moulds for series production.
