Munich, Germany- Polyurethane equipment specialist KraussMaffei announced 8 June that it is expanding its capacity in Okazaki, Japan, and Shanghai, China, as the company continues to build a strong presence in the growing markets for PU processing machinery in both countries.
"To keep pace with growth in demand," KraussMaffei said, it is "expanding its resources for process and component development and for production and mould design."
The group set up KraussMaffei Machinery Co. Ltd in Shanghai in 2001, and since then claims to have become market leader in PU systems for the Chinese automotive industry. The company is now intent on expanding what it calls its "already solid position in the PU insulation segment."
The Shanghai unit has moved to a bigger building, providing more space for customer trials and extra capacity for production and mould design.
Since its founding in Okazaki in 2006, KraussMaffei Japan has "grown dynamically, far exceeding initial forecasts," the company said. Now both production and laboratory capacity there have been substantially increased, so that KraussMaffei can supply customised and reliable service to a steadily growing customer base.
Krauss Maffei commented that as well as strengthening its presence in the Japanese and Chinese markets, these expansions create "a firm basis for the export of machinery and systems 'made in Germany.' In this context, the investments "are also an instrument for protecting future workplaces in Germany," the company concluded.
