Munich, Germany -- A leading Italian plastics processor recently began operating a new KraussMaffei system for backfoaming complete instrument panels for automotive customers, said machinery supplier KraussMaffei recently.
The Munich-based company supplied the metering machine -- a RIM Star Compact 40/16 -- together with four mixing heads and the PUC 07, a PC-based control system.
Also part of the order were four electric mould carriers suitable for use with a wide range of different moulds. These have electric drives for low noise and low maintenance, energy efficiency and flexibility, said KraussMaffei.
According to KraussMaffei, with this system, mould changes need only minimal adjustments to production parameters, and this gives processors very short set-up times. Another advantage is that the mould carriers can be opened, closed and tilted very rapidly.
"All these features make for higher productivity and greater flexibility," said the company.
