Paris -- An agricultural vehicle fender made using KraussMaffei polyurethane innovation will be showcased at JEC Europe in Paris.
The polyurethane composite fender – sold by Parat – is created using long fibre injection and reaction injection moulding processes
According to KraussMaffei’s composites/surfaces business unit manager, Erich Fries: “R-RIM (Reinforced RIM) is the only process for polyurethane fibre composite applications where the reinforcement material is contained directly in one component.
"It features a high degree of automation and, therefore, short cycle times," said Fries.
The low viscosity of the components makes it possible to manufacture large, complex, thin-walled, high-strength parts. These applications feature high temperature stability and an excellent impact strength and already have paintable surfaces, he added.
JEC Europe, which runs from 10 to 12 March, 2015, is dedicated to composite manufacturing.
