Tokyo-Kumho Mitsui Chemicals Inc.-a 50:50 joint venture between Kumho Petrochemical Co. and Mitsui Chemical Co.- aims to increase its MDI (methylene diphenyl diisocyanate) production capacity from 2005.
Under the plan, the capacity of KMCI's operation at Yeochon, South Korea, will rise by 20 percent to 60 kilotonnes per annum, said a Mitsui Takeda Chemicals Inc. spokesman. However, "the project is still at the study stage and nothing detailed has been decided yet." he added in an 8 Jan telephone interview.
MTCI is a 51:49 joint venture between Mitsui Chemical Inc and Takeda Chemical Industries Ltd. Majority partner Mitsui Chemical is scheduled to fully take over this Japan-based JV in 2006."
