Leverkusen, Germany -- Lanxess AG will increase its prices for hexane diol (HDO) and trimethylol propane (TMP) worldwide, with immediate effect.
In Europe, the price of HDO will increase by €60 tonne and elsewhere by $200.
Lanxess said in a 19 Dec statement that the increase is due to significant rises in production and transportation costs and shifts in the exchange rate between the Euro and the dollar.
The price of TMP will increase by €250 in Europe and elsewhere by $400, as a result of rising manufacturing costs, said Lanxess. Rising raw material and energy prices have also played a part according to the company.
HDO is used in high-grade coating resins, fibres, high temperature-resistant polymers and adhesives and TPM is used in the production of coatings, plastics, polyurethanes and pigments. (ss)
