Mumbai – Lanxess has opened a new application development centre in India. It is designed to support innovation for the country’s industrial and consumer markets.
The centre is in Thane, Mumbai. The company said it aligns with its plans to transform itself into a specialty chemicals company, with less focus on cyclical business areas. It believes India’s growing industrial base and expanding consumer markets will make it an “ideal platform” for driving these changes.
The company has been active in India for 20 years, and has about 800 employees in the country. It has two production hubs, one in Jhagadia, Gujarat, and the second in Nagda, Madhya Pradesh.
“India is a critical growth region for Lanxess, offering immense opportunities for collaboration and innovation,” Matthias Zachert, chairman of the company’s board of management, said at the inauguration ceremony. “The new application development centre represents our commitment to delivering solutions tailored to the needs of our local customers while driving organic, innovation-led growth.”
