Houston, Texas -- Lapolla Industries Inc, announced 14 July that it has achieved European Technical Approval and CE Marking for its low-density open-cell spray foam insulation (SPF).
Lapolla is a Houston based manufacturer and supplier of SPF insulation, cool roof coatings and equipment designed to reduce energy consumption in residential and commercial markets, for both new construction and retrofit applications.
European Technical Approval (ETA) for a construction product is a favourable technical assessment of its fitness for an intended use. In conjunction with an Attestation of Conformity (AC) procedure, Lapolla said ETAs allow manufacturers to place CE marking on their products, which is a key indicator of a product's compliance with EU legislation and enables the free movement of products within the European market.
Using CE marking on a product, means the manufacturer declares conformity with all of the legal requirements for the marking and therefore ensures validity for that product to be sold throughout the European Economic Area.
Lapolla's president and ceo, Doug Kramer, said in the company statement that, "Lapolla's achievement of an ETA for its Foam-LOK FL 500 product in Europe and corresponding CE marking opens up a multitude of sales channels and ensures access to EU markets. The global demand for energy savings has Lapolla and its distribution partners in an ideal position. Lapolla expects international distribution channels to continue to grow aggressively in the near term."
Lapolla held its first global summit in April 2011 in Amsterdam, attended by distributors from 16 countries from the EU, Scandinavia, the Middle East and Africa. The meetingprovided extensive coverage of material safety, handling and environmental, marketing and sales strategy. The company said it is planning a similar event for 2012.
