Vancouver -- Lignol Energy Corp. said 4 Sept that it is still working with Huntsman to develop commercial uses for Lignol's proprietary High Purity Lignin (HP-L), a unique form of lignin produced by Lignol's proprietary biorefining process used in converting non-food, cellulosic feedstock into ethanol.
Huntsman has been working with Lignol since August 2007 to incorporate HP-L into one or more of its polyurethane applications - a progamme which ties in with Huntsman's |continuing commitment to evaluate the use of bio-renewable components," both for feedstock and for applications, said Lignol's statement.
Huntsman has told Lignol that, based on initial results, the programme will continue with high priority and increased resource allocation for the remainder of 2008.
Next is the possibility of a formal product development and supply agreement with Lignol to meet Huntsman's future demand. This will depend on Lignol's success in building commercial scale biorefineries and on whether Huntsman's tests prove economically and technically beneficial, Lignol added.
