Guangzhou, China – Liming, a Chinese research institute and maker of polyurethane systems, is now licensing its technology overseas.
Its latest project licensed TPU technology to a plant with nearly 500T/year capacity in Mexico’s state of Leon. The company’s director of international trade Zhao Zhigang told UTECH-polyurethane.com, about the move on the side lines of PU China 2019. This was held in Guangzhou on 5-7 September.
The project started in May and is due to come on stream by the end of this year, said Zhao.
Liming's first technology license was in Turkey in 2012, Zhao said. His company has also brokered equipment purchasing agreements for Chinese machinery makers. Feilong PU Machine and Henghui Machinery have both supplied casting equipment to Liming’s projects.
The company has drawn back from licensing in Iran following banking problems and US sanctions.
Liming claims to be the only Chinese company exploring such a business model overseas. ‘It fits Liming’s characteristics – good technology, high product variety and low production volume,’ said Zhao.
‘So far the revenue is not stable year to year, sometimes it is nearly CNY 100m ($14m), sometimes it is close to nothing,’ he added.
