Basel, Switzerland - Swiss biopharmaceutical supplier Lonza has completed its acquisition of Arch Chemicals.
Arch Chemicals' major business is in biocides but it also has a performance urethanes division which supplies polyether polyols for non-foam applications.
Lonza said in a 20 Oct announcement that Lonza Microbial Control, a new business sector formed by the acquisition and led by Jeanne Thoma, will provide customers with complete solutions for their microbial control needs. The new business will be ideally positioned to increase R&D and product development spending across its broader product portfolio, the company said.
"This step enhances our global footprint, balances our currencies and our business models," commented Stefan Borgas, ceo of Lonza. "We have the willingness and the resources to invest in R&D and applications development for the benefit of all of our customers".
