Cleveland, Ohio - Lubrizol Corp. has earned NSF certification for 11 Estane Thermoplastic Polyurethane (TPU) products, the company announced, 9 June.
The certified products, which range from 82A to 92A hardness, can now be used safely in numerous applications, including cured-in-place pipe (CIPP) for sewer lines, potable water and laterals, said Lubrizol.
"The CIPP process was first used to repair sewer lines, but it has expanded to other applications as well. There is a significant push to use the benefits of this technology in potable water applications," said market manager Ralf Huther.
"To qualify for this type of application the structure and components must have NSF to assure no harmful contaminants are introduced into the drinking water," he added. The end-use lining material requires NSF 61 certification for pipe with a cold water exposure ratio of 500 sq. in/litre, Huther pointed out, saying that with this certification "our Estane TPU products now meet this requirement, opening the door for us to effectively compete in this market."
