Cleveland, Ohio – Two new TPU-based products have been introduced by Lubrizol in its Engineered Polymers business: a powder for adhesives, and products for the graphics and signs market.
The new Pearlbond 1160L grade TPU is designed for use in adhesive powders, webs and films. The company claims it complements the current high-crystalline offerings for adhesive films and PVC co-extrusion.
The powder is toluene-free, and can be converted into thermobonding films, webs and powder. The product is said to be both lightweight and environmentally friendly compared to competing materials.
‘It provides a gel-free, high-performing alternative that can be easily processed and offers new possibilities for stitch-free bonding and waterproofing adhesives in a variety of applications,’ said Jesus Santamaria, EMEAI business director for engineered polymers.
The second new introduction, a portfolio of TPU products under the brand name Estane, is designed to offer a long-lasting alternative to traditional vinyl-based graphics products.
Applications include vehicle wraps, decorative films, outdoor signage and durable labels. The material can be printed using most existing inks and printing processes, and has good resistance to the elements, allied to self-healing properties.
