Cleveland, Ohio – Lubrizol has launched two new thermoplastic polyurethane resins for hot melt adhesives. The products are breathable, humidity-proof and microbe-resistant.
The resins, part of the plasticiser-free Pearlbond 300 TPU series, have a low activation temperature and bond a variety of substrates. Applications include technical textiles, interlinings, apparel, conveyor belts and footwear.
Pearlbond 360 TPU is claimed to have a superior wash resistance and ‘outstanding’ adhesion to fabrics. It bonds well at temperatures below 120°C, allowing it to be combined with delicate fabrics. The second new resin, Pearlbond 960 TPU, also offers UV resistance.
‘There is a strong demand from customers around the world to have adhesive solutions that combines softness, low activation temperature and high durability,’ said James Ruben, Lubrizol’s global market segment manager for adhesives. ‘End-uses such as quality garments, automotive and consumer goods require innovative bonding solutions.
