Cleveland, Ohio - Lubrizol Specialty Chemicals (Shanghai) Co. Ltd, a subsidiary of Lubrizol Corp., is introducing new environmentally friendly, plasticiser-free, soft Estane thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) grades at Chinaplas 2009, the company said 13 May.

Lubrizol said the new grades are for use in injection moulding processors and exhibit "excellent flexibility, softness and abrasion resistance." Typically TPUs contain a plasticiser that may be subject to regulation by environmental agencies and can potentially alter bonding strength, the company added.

Formerly sold under the Skythane brand, the new Estane TPUs are available in a polyester series: T460AH, T460A and T470A, as well as a polyether series: T365A and T370A. Lubrizol said the TPUs offer "high transparency and outstanding UV stability," a range between 60A to 77A Shore hardness and are ideal as replacements for rubber and PVC (polyvinyl chloride) in moulding applications.
