Aurora, Ontario -- Auto supplier Magna International Inc. will build two plants in Chattanooga, Tennessee, to supply both seats and bumper fascia plus other trim to Volkswagen AG's new plant in the city.
The company previously announced it would supply the new Volkswagen's seating through a joint venture with Hollingsworth Logistics Group. It now has added fascias, sealing systems and pillar trim covers through its Exteriors and Interiors unit to its contracts in Chattanooga, the company said in a 26 April news release.
Both the seat assembly facility and the fascia assembly plant will be housed within a supplier park adjacent to VW's new site. Aurora, Ontario-based Magna did not disclose how much it will invest in Chattanooga, but said it expects to create 140 jobs through the two operations.
Full production is set to launch in 2011. In addition to the plastics content, Magna has won business supplying body and structural components and window regulators and trunk latches.
