Albion, Michigan – The latest product line involving polyurethane from Caster Concepts, Mammoth Custom Casters, is designed to provide solutions to complex individual challenges, such as moving large machinery, rolling over glass without cracking it, or swivelling with exact precision.
Mammoth Casters meet extreme challenges
Designed by the company’s engineers and built at one of the company’s three plants in central Michigan, the manufacturing processes used to make the casters include laser cutting, polyurethane processing and CNC machinery.
Solutions designed so far include casters with wheels measuring more than 75cm in diameter and an axle gear for a motor-powered steel transporter with loads of more than 100 tonne of steel, and casters that can carry more than 250 tonne of coal, plus the 70 tonnne weight of the turntable.
‘Our flexible manufacturing process allows us to build almost anything our engineers can design and our customers can dream up,’ says the company’s president and chief executive, Bill Dobbins.
