Chennai, India – Manali has restarted production at a shuttered polyol plant, according to an announcement on the Bombay Stock Exchange.
Operations at Plant 1 restarted on 16 January 2019. The restart came after the Indian Central Pollution Control Board withdrew an order to stop production.
The CPCB told Manali to close the polyether polyol plant following an inspection in November 2018. It had found that an effluent treatment plant was breaching emission limits.
The CPCB served the order under Section 5 of the Environment Protection Act, 1985. This shuts the plant until it complies with the standard.
Manali has a second plant on the site in Chennai. This was unaffected by the CPCB.
The company makes propylene glycol and polyether polyols at the site.
