New Delhi, India - Mapei is promoting cementitious polyurethane flooring for applications in India's food and beverage industries.
'We have laid Mapefloor CPU in few major groups like Bosch and Heritage Foods,' said Sanjay Bhalla, CEO of Mapei's Indian operation.
He was talking on the sidelines of the Architecture, Construction & Engineering Show. This was held in the middle of December.
Currently, Mapei imports the product to India from its site at Robbiano di Mediglia. This is about 15 km Southeast of Milan.
Bhalla added: 'Currently, we are focusing on marketing the range in India.'
Meanwhile, Bhalla said he believes that there is a good market for similar products because India is modernising its industrial base. At the same time, food safety and health standards are becoming stronger. 'If the application grows, a dedicated site could be considered in the next couple of years,' he added.
Currently, Mapei operates two sites in India at Bengaluru, Karnataka and Vadodara, Gujarat.
Bhalla explained that the Indian production base makes a range of products for countries in the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation trade area. These include Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal, the Maldives, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
