Tokyo — Polyurethane production in Japan fell by 7.2% in March 2020, compared with the same month in 2019.
The figures come from Japan’s Ministry of International Trade and Industry, and show the sixth straight month of falling production in the country.
In total, Japan produced 15.7 kT of polyurethane in March 2020. This compares with 16.96 kT in March 2019. The fall in production was 1226 tonne.
The country produced 10.6 kT of flexible foam in March 2020, down 440 tonne on March 2019. The nation produced 5.1 kT of rigid foam in March 2020.This compares with 5.9 kT in the same month in 2019.
In the first quarter of 2020 Japan produced a total of 46.3 kT foam. This is down by 6% on the same period in 2019, when 49.1 kT were produced.
