Lonate Ceppino, Italy -- Colour paste and additives maker Repi is investing more than Euro 1 million ($1.4 million) in research and development due to increasing market demand, the company said in a 15 Feb statement.
The investment will be spent on the expansion of the lab capacity at the Italian group's headquarters in Lonate Ceppino, near Milan.
Construction at the site started at the end of 2010, and is due to be completed by April 2011.
"This investment had been originally planned for 2012. The positive development of the business during the last two years has made the need for supplementary lab capacity obvious, so we took the decision to anticipate this project," said Michael Rath, PU managing director of Repi.
The statement said that the expansion will provide Repi with an additional 500 sqm of lab space for "the development of new products for the colouring of polyurethane and other plastics." LMH
