Witbank, South Africa-Martin Engineering South Africa-formerly Scorpio Conveyor Products-has relocated to a new facility in its hometown of Witbank, Mpumalanga, Republic of South Africa.
All of the activities of Martin Engineering South Africa are now located in the new 3700 sq.m building, which is double the size of the operation's previous facility, said the company, in a press statement.
At the same time, the firm said, it has officially changed its name to Martin Engineering South Africa.
Founded as Scorpio Engineering (Pty) Ltd in 1979, the operation was acquired in 2003 by Martin Engineering, the Neponset, Illinois-based supplier of systems and services to improve bulk materials handling.
The facility has expanded workshops for more efficient manufacturing, using Martin Engineering's 'lean' production approach.
The company's products use polyurethane for highly abrasion- and wear-resistant parts in conveying and materials handling.
Martin Engineering South Africa calls itself "a leading supplier of conveyor belt cleaners and other systems to improve bulk material handling in sub-Sahara Africa."
Products include belt-cleaning systems, conveyor transfer point components, air cannons, industrial vibrators, and custom-engineered belt conveyor systems.
Parent company Martin Engineering says it is a supplier of equipment for "cleaner, safer, and more productive" bulk materials handling. "
