Virginia, US – The Mattress Recycling Council is preparing to submit a programme plan to Oregon’s Department of Environmental Quality. This is in response to the state law signed in March 2022 to create a state-wide mattress recycling programme.
The organisation, which already runs the “Bye Bye Mattress” recycling programmes in California, Connecticut and Rhode Island, hopes to administer the programme. It is currently seeking companies interested in proving mattress recycling services within the state, as well as an in-state programme coordinator.
MRC’s parent body, ISPA, is also actively supporting legislation in two further states, New York and Massachusetts. Both would set up state-wide mattress recycling programmes. The New York bill and the one (of three) in Massachusetts ISPA is supporting both resemble the new law in Oregon.
