Seoul – More details have emerged about the recently signed MCNS jv between Mitsui Chemicals and SKC Polyurethanes.
MCNS will be operated jointly by ceo Won Gi-don, ex-chief of SKC’s Chemicals Division and CEO Ishimaru Hiroyasu, ex-chief of Mitsui Chemicals’ urethane division.
Jung Gi-bong, president of SKC said MCNS will “expand the market of the world’s chemical industry.” He added that the “the joint venture will focus on innovation and structural changes, such as business portfolio.”
MCNS now has 15 production bases, in nine countries, responsible for polyol and systems production. Polyol capacity will be 280kT/year, MDI 200kT/year, TDI 120kT/year and PU system production 120 kT/year.
MCNS will aim at high value-added products and specialty products and plans to increase the share of those products in its portfolio.
It will strengthen its future research and development with a focus on competitiveness and the innovation of speciality products. It sees key markets around the world in China, India, Mexico, Russia, the Middle East and other emerging markets.
