Cranston, Rhode Island - Mearthane Products has bought Polyurethane Molding Industries. This is its fifth acquisition in the past three years.
Terms of the transaction, which was announced on 26 February, were not disclosed.
PMI is based in Woonsocket, Rhode Island. It specialises in PU RIM and custom part finishing services. Typical products are used for 3D printers, ATMs, medical instruments and covers.
'PMI's RIM business will expand our existing capabilities,' said MPC president Pete Kaczmarek. Mearthane was also attracted to PMI because of its excellent precision painting and finishing processes, he added.
PMI's president, Len Strapponi, will join Mearthane as director of business and process development for RIM. Mearthane's Brian Johnson will take over as operations manager in Woonsocket.
Mearthane has bought four other companies in New England since September 2017. These include Creative Urethanes, based in Winchester, Vermont. That deal, in October 2018, gave Mearthane its first polyurethane reaction injection moulding operation.
