By Liz White, UT editorArlington, Virginia-The US Alliance for the Polyurethanes Industry has announced that its director, Dick Mericle, is to retire at the end of 2006.
"Under Dick's leadership for the past 5 years, membership and participation have improved significantly," said a statement from Bruce Kuiken of the American Chemistry Council and Doug Warner of Dow Chemical Co.
"The success of the API Technical Conferences and Exhibitions, doubling of membership and retention and growth of staff are hallmarks of Dick's leadership," the statement continued. Mericle leaves the Alliance in sound financial condition and as an important, integrated part of the American Chemistry Council, said the announcement.
"Dick has done a great job in growing the API. His leadership, loyalty to the polyurethanes industry, and tireless energy will be missed," Kuiken and Warner added.
API has begun to look for a new director for the Alliance for the Polyurethanes Industry.
