New Delhi – MH Polymers is investing INR70m ($922,000) in new PU foam production lines from Germany to help meet expanding demand from its mattress business.
CEO Wasif Mohd said: '[We are] replacing old foam making machinery with new German lines. The investment, including a new factory will be made in one financial year.'
The company has capacity for 7.2kT/year polyurethane foam at its plant in Surjapur, Uttar Pradesh, and a further 2.4kT/year at its plant in Tamkur, Karnataka for the southern Indian market.
'We are buying new machines for mattress production from Turkey,' Mohd said. The company is increasing mattress capacity to meet domestic and export demand from Europe and the US at its site in Surajpur, Uttar Pradesh.
MH Polymers will double its capacity to 5000 mattress/day there,. As well as machinery, the company is investing INR50m in a new building for the new production.
The additional capacity is likely to come on stream early in 2022.
