Cincinnati, Ohio -- Michelman, a global developer of water-based functional coatings, surface modifiers, and polymers, is making substantial changes to its organisational structure, the company said in a 13 June statement.
The company, which makes polyurethane dispersions and emulsions for the fibre industry, said the changes reflected Michelman's drive to grow "more quickly, more creatively and more efficiently."
Michelman has four business units (BU): fibres & composites, paper & corrugated, flexible packaging and chemical specialties. Managers have been promoted from within the company, Michelman said, and will have responsibilities for all aspects of their respective business units.
Each will have close contact with customers "thereby bringing management decision making closer to the customer, and improving the overall customer experience," the firm noted in the announcement.
The new global managers are Dr. Yves De Smet (fibres & composites), Steve Ruehrwein (chemical specialties), Dr. Bruce Berglund (paper) and Bjarne Ry Schmidt (flexible packaging).
Three executives will be responsible for sales, marketing and technology development respectively, across all business units. These new appointments are Marty Riehemann (vice president chief commercial officer), Bob Poletti (vice president chief marketing and business development officer) and Dr Rick Michelman (vice president chief technology officer).
"This is an aggressive and exciting strategy that considers the present as well as the future. We have placed a strong focus on the continued development of world-class technology, best-in-class materials and processes and organic growth," commented Steve Shifman, Michelman ceo.
Based in Cincinnati, Ohio, Michelman has production facilities in the US, Europe and Singapore, and a worldwide network of field-support personnel.
