Duffel, Belgium -- Mondi Belcoat has invested in an extra laboratory facility to support its existing foam insulation business. "The new laboratory will enable us to better support our customers in their innovation process. We can now - in a perfect test environment - apply foam directly onto our Mondi facers," said managing director, Jurgen Van der Donck.
"Testing of the end-use application in our own lab will speed up our customer´s innovation process for insulation products".
The new facility allows Mondi to perform pre-screenings for new and existing products. Mondi says this gives it the opportunity to do the greater part of the final product approval in-house, significantly accelerating the time-to-market for customers and reducing costly test trials to a minimum.
According to Mondi, the laboratory supports its ambition to be an innovative leader in insulation facing, creating new, efficient, energy-saving solutions based on market trends.
With the new facility Mondi said it will be able to test a broader range of polymers, enhancing functionality of the membranes with features such as air tightness, heat resistance and fire-retardant properties.
