Vienna -- Mondi Extrusion Coatings has been supplying process liners for the flexible foam industry for 30 years, and says rising demand for flexible foam has triggered the development of an "enhanced and even more efficient solution."
Engineers at Mondi have come up with a process liner that meets the demands of foamers and offers more - a full service package including technical assistance, cost optimisation, reel-width standardisation and a unique recycling scheme: OLMO 2.0+.
This new process liner offers cost savings and enhances foam quality, Mondi claims. Full coverage of the foam block on all four sides means chemicals cannot evaporate and the foam block is also protected from UV light as well as moisture.
In addition, production is cleaner as the machine conveyors are shielded from 'sticky' uncured foam and the workers profit from reduced exposure to toxic vapour.
OLMO 2.0+ combines a strong Mondi paper with a special polymer layer, tailor-made for the foam industry. "The new material solves various problems associated with conventional processing paper or standard polyethylene films", Tom Schäbinger, ceo of Coatings & Consumer Packaging, explains.
"OLMO 2.0+ is designed to run on all machine types and supports an increased prime foam output of our customers," he said, continuing: "in addition, our undamaged OLMO 2.0+ paper can be recycled in a number of ways, thus offering environmental benefits."
The runnability can be improved significantly as a more stable process liner reduces the risk of web breaks. This also leads to higher employee safety from minimising contact with potentially toxic vapours.
Mondi says its full package covers technical assistance to run the process liner most efficiently, help with cost optimisation projects as well as waste recycling solutions.
